Carlington — a great place to call home

Carlington is a large neighbourhood located in the River Ward district of Ottawa, with a population of approximately 12,000 residents. Geographically, it is bound by Clyde Avenue to the west, Carling Avenue to the north, Fisher Avenue to the east and the Central Experimental Pathway to the south. The area is primarily residential, with homes built as early as the 1940s. Today, a number of homes and apartment buildings are still being built in the area. Apart from residential development, Carlington is home to a fine mix of commercial and outdoor attractions. The Westgate Shopping Centre is located at 1309 Carling Avenue, and is home to a variety of shops and services, as well as a Shoppers Drug Mart, convenient for light grocery shopping and getting prescriptions filled. Several parklands reside in the neighbourhood, including the popular Carlington park located at the west end.

The city of Ottawa is served by OC Transpo, offering a number of local bus routes that take passengers to and from all major areas of the city, with accessible door-to-door transit available for those in need. The Royal Ottawa Hospital is located in Carlington itself, while the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus lies just outside the neighbourhood and can be easily accessed by foot or via bus route 80, running every 30 minutes.
