City of Burlington — a great place to call home

Burlington is a city in the Regional Municipality of Halton at the northwestern edge of Lake Ontario, just north of Hamilton. The city was recently ranked the ninth best place to live in Canada by MoneySense magazine. Burlington is strategically located at the geographic centre of the densely populated and industrialized region of the Golden Horseshoe.

Burlington has a wide range of suburban and downtown neighbourhoods, all varying in housing, educational facilities and community services. The downtown area has a fine mix of businesses, dining options, shopping, grocery stores, and pharmacies, as well as a number of entertainment services. The primarily hospital, Joseph Brant Memorial, is also conveniently located in the downtown area. The city is also home to over 115 parks, with the Spencer Smith Park being a particularly popular attraction, featuring an expensive shoreline walking path with an observatory, outdoor pond and nearby commercial districts. The primary malls in Burlington are the Appleby Mall, the Burlington Mall and the Mapleview Centre.

The Burlington Transit system is serviced by low floor accessible buses, and takes passengers to and from all areas of the city.
