Coquitlam is a city in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, with a population of just under 140,000 residents. Geographically, it is located approximately 10-15 km east of Vancouver, bordering Burnaby and Port Moody to the west, New Westminster to the southwest, and Port Coquitlam to the southeast. The city is home to a number of residential neighbourhoods, with the largest residential area being Austin Heights in the southwest. Coquitlam Town Centre is the primary commercial and retail neighbourhood of the city. The mall, Coquitlam Centre, is home to numerous fashion and retail stores, as well as a grocery store and optometry clinic.
Coquitlam is also home to an abundance of park land, with over 80 municipal parks and natural areas. Mundy Park is the largest and most popular park, located roughly in the centre of the city. Several transit routes serve the Coquitlam area, including the Millennium Line Evergreen Extension and West Coast Express commuter rail. A number of regular busses also serve the city, conveniently taking passengers to and from all corners of Coquitlam. The main hospital, Eagle Ridge Hospital, is located at the Port Moody-Coquitlam border, at 475 Guilford Way, also easy accessible by transit.
