Peterborough is a city in Central Ontario, located on the Otonabee River. Geographically, it is situated approximately 125 km northeast of Toronto and 270 km southwest of Ottawa. The community is known for its excellent quality of living and ability to couple the big city life with the great outdoors. Three primary communities reside within Peterborough, including Millbrook, Bridgenorth and Lakefield. The downtown core is conveniently located at the centre of the city's residential communities, on the shore of the picturesque Otonabee River. The area consists of a multitude of unique shops, restaurants, community services and entertainment attractions. A number of recreational activities are available for residents of Peterborough, including the Trent-Severn Waterway, the Canadian Canoe Museum, Petroglyphs Provincial Park, and a number of parklands, convenient for walking, hiking and simply relaxing in the summertime.
The city is served by Peterborough Transit, consisting of local bus routes that run frequently and take passengers to and from all regions of Peterborough. Accessible door-to-door bus services are also available for those in need. The primary healthcare centre is the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, located at 1 Hospital Dr, and is easily accessible by bus.
