Proudly representing the second largest city in British Columbia, Surrey comprises of a diverse community located just south of the Fraser River and north of the Canada-US border, only 35 minutes southeast of Vancouver. The city is primarily suburban, and is made up of six town centres including: Fleetwood, Whalley, Guildford, Newton, Cloverdale, and South Surrey. Whalley is known as the city centre and home of the downtown core, and is the most densely populated town centre in Surrey. A number of festivals and events are held in Whalley, and while it is the busiest town in Surrey, Whalley remains within close proximity to the scenic Holland Park, the Green Timbers Nature Reserve, and other outdoor attractions. The new Surrey Memorial Hospital is only a short walk away from downtown and easily accessible by all residents. Outside the main residential regions, Surrey comprises of beautiful parks and hiking trails, commercial shopping districts, arts and cultural attractions
With increased infrastructure, many residents find walking to be the primary method of transportation around Surrey, however the city also provides a number of local bus routes that take passengers from all major regions in the city. Accessible options are available for those in need.
