Proudly representing the capital of British Columbia, the city of Victoria is located in the southern end of Vancouver Island and is rated one of the top twenty world cities for quality-of-life. Known as “The Garden City”, Victoria is rich in parkland with popular attractions such as the elegant 75-hectare Beacon Hill Park and the famous Butchart Gardens nearby. Victoria consists of several compact neighbourhoods surrounding downtown, with an excellent transportation network comprised of local bus services offered by BC transit and ferries that carry passengers to surrounding areas, including Seattle and Port Angeles to the south, and Alaska to the north.
Downtown Victoria consists of a vibrant urban neighbourhood with a walkable shopping area and many entertainment hot-spots. Victoria is also dense in cultural and historical attractions, most notably the Craigdarroch Castle, a Victorian-era Scottish Baronial mansion and National Historic Site of Canada, located only a leisurely walk away from Victoria’s inner harbour. The city provides accessible options to all their services, with safe wheelchair ramps and audible pedestrian signals at intersections.
