Downtown Edmonton is home of the central business district of Edmonton, Alberta, with a population of approximately 13,000 residents. Geographically, downtown Edmonton is bordered by 109 Street to the west, 105 Street to the east, 97 Avenue and Rossdale Road to the south, and the North Saskatchewan River to the southeast. A number of commercial attractions are located in the heart of downtown, including the Rogers Place sports and entertainment arena, the Winspear Centre performance hall, City Hall and Churchill Square. The 4th Street promenade is a neighbourhood that is also located in the core of downtown Edmonton, and offers access to several trendy shops and unique boutiques. The area is rich in businesses, tourist attractions, and restaurants, as well as cultural and historical attractions. Several hospitals are located nearby the area, and the Edmonton Transit Service provides efficient and affordable public transportation around the city with community buses and light rail transit.
The residents of downtown Edmonton are represented by the Downtown Edmonton Community League, which runs a community hall located at 100 Avenue and 103 Street.
