Fairview — a great place to call home

Fairview is a small neighborhood located on the west side of Vancouver with a population of around 30, 000 residents. Geographically, its borders encompass the entrances to the Burrard Bridge in the west, the Cambie Bridge in the east, and the Granville Bridge in the core of the neighborhood. Fairview is home to Vancouver’s most popular attraction, Granville Island, which has an indoor market comprising of many food and produce stores, as well as several boutiques selling handcrafted products. While less than 100 years ago, the Fairview area was just a forest of fir trees, it has undergone a great deal of commercial and residential development within the neighborhood, all easily accessible by car or bus. The vibrant South Granville shopping district runs along Granville St. from the Granville Bridge to 16th Avenue and is home to some of the greatest varieties of shopping, entertainment and art venues in the city. Many medical centres are also clustered around Vancouver General Hospital, including BC Cancer Agency, BC Cancer Research Centre and BC Centre for Disease control, making employment in Fairview highly focused around the medical industry.
