Conveniently located by the Ottawa River, Lebreton Flats is a small neighbourhood situated in the Somerset Ward of central Ottawa with a population of just under 400 residents. Geographically, it is bound by Centretown to the east, Centretown West to the south, and the scenic Ottawa River to the west and north. While the area used to be primarily residential, Lebreton Flats is now home to the Canadian War Museum and the Lebreton Flats Park, hosting numerous festivals throughout the summer, including the famous Ottawa Bluesfest. The majority of the neighbourhood is currently undergoing redevelopment, with plans to build a major event centre, a large community rink, a sports and recreation centre, as well as an affordable housing sector.
The city of Ottawa is served by OC Transpo, offering a number of local bus routes that take passengers to and from all major areas of the city. Accessible door-to-door transit is available for those in need. Both Chinatown and Downtown Ottawa are easily accessible from Lebreton Flats, either by bus or by foot. The Montfort Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital are approximately 20 minutes away from the neighbourhood by car, however several smaller healthcare facilities and clinics are located in the downtown area and can be accessed quickly by bus.
