Oliver — a great place to call home

Oliver is one of the oldest and most densely populated residential neighbourhoods in Edmonton, Alberta, with a population reaching close to 20,000 residents. Geographically, Oliver is north of 104 Avenue along the Canadian National Trail tracks, stretching south and overlooking Victoria Park Drive and the North Saskatchewan River. Its western and eastern boundaries comprise of 124 Street and 109 Street. It is located just west of the downtown core, which is easily accessible via the Edmonton Transit Service. The city is dense in culture and history, originally named after early settler Frank Oliver, a well-known businessman and politician of the time. Many small businesses present in Oliver today are located in preserved historical homes. Since the early 1960’s, Oliver has undergone major urbanization, with the development of many highrise apartments. Other than residential development, Oliver is home to a number of business districts, religious worship centres and churches, parks, recreational services and the Oliver arena.

Nearby attractions include: The North Saskatchewan River Valley, Edmonton’s Royal Glenora Club, the Victoria Golf Course, and Victoria Park. The Oliver LRT stop is located in the southeast part of the neighborhood, and bus stops are scattered along major roads, making major amenities easily accessible to all residents.
