Overbrook is an urban neighborhood in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward, in the east end of Ottawa. Geographically, it is bounded by the Queensway, the Rideau River, St. Laurent Boulevard. and Vanier. The area is primarily residential, with over 60% of the homes being rented and the rest owned by residents. The west side of Overbrook has been under development, with the addition of low-rise condos, executive town homes and premium apartment buildings that overlook Rideau River and Strathcona Park. The main commercial attraction in the area is the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, which is home to a multitude of retail and fashion stores, banks, a post office and the St. Laurent Dental Centre. The Rideau River runs on the west of Overbrook, with Riverain Park nearby, popular for both sports and outdoor recreation activities. OC Transpo conveniently takes passengers from Overbrook to all areas of Ottawa, and is only a 15-20-minute bus ride to downtown.
The Overbrook Community is represented by the Overbrook Community Association. Nearby neighborhoods include Sandy Hill, Vanier, Eastway Gardens, Forbes, Castle Heights and Cyrville.
