Deep River in Ontario located 200km northwest of Ottawa on the Trans-Canada HIghway. It borders on the province of Quebec and sits next to the Laurentian Mountains. Deep River was established in 1944 and takes from the fact that Ottawa River is 402 feet just outside the town.
Deep River planning began in 1944, it was an effect of the Manhattan project and Chalk River Nuclear. It was designed and built to hold the scientists, engineers and needed personnel. It subsequently got a boost when the HydroElectric Dam was built.The planning was undertaken before building the city, The contoured streets and whole site planning. Deep River has been the centre of the timber trade as well.

Annually there is Summerfest which plays host to many concerts and outdoor activities a Favourite is the cross-river swims.
