Fountain View Care Community is located south of Eglinton Avenue and west of Victoria Park Avenue in Toronto. Offering private or shared accommodation, Fountain View opened in 2001 and is home to 158 residents. The needs of different cultural groups in this long-term care home are met by the provision of general activities and culturally-specific programming, including celebration of all major holidays, a Halloween “Haunted House,” and Christmas Tea Party. For residents with cognitive impairment, there is a beautiful sensory-stimulation room called “Jean’s Corner” in memory of a resident. The home’s cockatiel and the visiting therapy dog are enjoyed by residents, as are the art therapy program, drum circle, and monthly bus outings. A computer program is available to residents wishing to learn how to use the internet and email.
