Deerwood Creek Care Community is situated behind the Humber River ravine, with a walking and bicycle path that travels as far as the lakeshore in the Highway 427 and Finch area. This long-term care home opened in 2001, and offers the 160 residents a choice of private or shared accommodation. One of the five home areas is devoted to meeting the cultural and linguistic needs of residents of Italian heritage, and a state-of-the-art Tender Care home area called “Windsor Heights” cares for residents with Alzheimer’s disease.
Residents enjoy access to the Cyber-Seniors program to help them get online, two gym rooms, a personal trainer, and a nursing rehabilitation team.
The home’s name was inspired by local deer that visit the backyard during the winter. Along with several pets and the vital connection among residents, family and employees—this gives Deerwood Creek an overall “homey” atmosphere where residents are well taken care of by a loving team of professionals.
