For more than 40 years, the Terraces of Baycrest has been serving the community with excellence in care and specialized programming. We are known worldwide for our expertise in helping seniors discover new opportunities in their day-to-day life through innovative programs and services. We welcome people of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds.
Baycrest began as the Toronto Jewish Old Folks Home in downtown Toronto. It was founded by a group of neighbourhood women, members of the Ezras Noshim Society. Over the years, Baycrest has grown to meet the needs of the community it serves and has been built on the spirit of caring and compassion initiated by our founders.
ARTS AND CULTURE are prominent themes in the day-to-day life of our residents. Numerous original art collections decorate our home. Residents can participate in art classes (stained glass making, painting, etc.), dance lessons, a poetry club, a resident-run choir and a theatre group facilitated by a Storyteller-in-Residence. They also attend outings to galleries and other cultural venues.
Our exceptional culinary team works hard to create an enjoyable dining experience, serving nutritious and delicious kosher food (COR). Lunch and dinner are served daily in our main floor dining room where residents catch up with old friends and make new ones. Daily menus are created to appeal to a variety of palates. Included as a regular menu option are recipes from the Terraces of Baycrest resident-created cookbook, A Ta’am to Remember. Celebrity Chefs occasionally visit our dining room and help us create an extra-special meal. Family and friends may join us in the main dining room or use our private dining room.
