Last updated: May 11, 2026

Dignified.ca (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy law.

1. Information we collect

Inquiry forms. When a family sends a message to a retirement home through our site, we collect the sender's name, email address, phone number (optional), and message text. This information is forwarded to the retirement home operator and stored in our database.

Operator claims and accounts. When a retirement home operator claims a listing, we collect their name, email address, job title, phone number, and the name of their facility. We use this to verify the claim and create a dashboard account.

Billing information. Payments for featured listings are processed by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. Stripe may retain payment data under its own privacy policy.

Usage data. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, search terms, referral sources). This data is aggregated and does not identify individuals by default.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information only for the purposes it was collected:

  • To forward your inquiry to the retirement home you contacted
  • To verify operator identity and manage dashboard access
  • To process subscription payments for featured listings
  • To send transactional emails (claim approval, inquiry confirmation)
  • To improve the site based on aggregated usage patterns

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising profiling.

3. Who sees your information

Retirement home operators receive the name, email, phone number, and message of families who contact them through the site. By submitting an inquiry, you consent to this disclosure.

Dignified.ca staff can access inquiry and claim data for support and verification purposes.

Service providers who process data on our behalf include:

  • Supabase (database and file storage, hosted in the US)
  • Stripe (payment processing, US)
  • Google (analytics, US)
  • Resend (transactional email, US)

Each provider is bound by its own privacy policy and, where applicable, data processing agreements. Data transferred outside Canada is protected by contractual safeguards.

4. Retention

Inquiry records are retained for up to two years to allow operators to reference past family contacts. Operator account data is retained while the account is active and for one year after closure. You may request earlier deletion (see Section 6).

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for session management (login state). Google Analytics sets analytics cookies when you visit the site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect site functionality.
